Circle of Hope Legacy Society members continue to ensure the future of the ATOU. For more than 27 years, ATOU has taught children what it is like to walk in someone else’s shoes. We use disability awareness as the tool that helps children be more accepting, empathetic and respectful of others.
Today, ATOU is a positive influence in the lives of over 10,000 children each year in the Sacramento region and Northern California. Our award-winning program reduces bullying and teasing, as well as social isolation. Teachers report that 85% of the children show improved ability in peer interactions, and marked improvement in their social and emotional well-being.
